SBAIC would like to invite you to a virtual presentation on FAR Section 889 facilitated by SBAIC with special guests from the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) M/OAA on November 19, 2020 from 4-5 pm. As you know, Section 889 of the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for Fiscal Year 2019 prohibits the U.S. government on or after August 13, 2020 from procuring or obtaining or extending or renewing a contract to procure or obtain, any equipment, system, or service that uses certain telecommunications equipment and video surveillance services and equipment. The rule specifically identifies five companies posing a security risk: Huawei Technologies Company, ZTE Corporation (or any subsidiary or affiliate of such entities), Hytera Communications Corporation, Hangzhou Hikvision Digital Technology Company, and Dahua Technology Company (or any subsidiary or affiliate of such entities).

Many of you have expressed an interest in receiving more clarification on the new Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) and we have invited key leaders from USAID’s Management Bureau’s Office of Acquisition and Assistance (M/OAA) to speak on this subject.  The primary speakers will be Mark Walther, Chief Acquisition Officer, Director of M/OAA, and Deb Broderick, Deputy Director of M/OAA.  Also, Marcelle Wijesinghe, Division Chief of MOAA Policy and Matthew Johnson, Industry Liaison and Communications Director for M/OAA will be online to support the team.  

This event will include time for questions and answers. The registration form includes an opportunity to submit questions for the panel before the event which will assist with their preparation. We look forward to your participation and are excited about engaging on this very important topic.
